Dr APJ Abdul Kalam: The Missile’s Man Of India

The eleventh President Of India Bharat RatnaDr. APJ abdulKalam (1931-2015) was the finest technocrat. Dr.AvulPakirJainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was born on 15 october 1931 in a tamilmuslim family at Rameswaram. His father Jainulabdeen was a boat owner and his mother Ashimma was a housewife. Kalam completed his school education from Ramnathuram Schwartz High School. He then graduated in physics at Saint Joseph College in Tamil Nadu. After graduated, he enrolled in degree course in aeronautical engeeneering at Madras Institute Of Technology in Tamil Nadu. Instead, he joined the Defence Research Development Organization (D.R.D.O) as a junior scientists in Bangalore in 1958.Where, he was involved in research and development of fighter air planes to Indian Space Research Organizations (I.S.R.O) led by Professor VikramSarabhi. He joined advanced training programme at NASA in 1963.Kalam served as a chairman of the Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment council (TIFAC), an autonomous organizations under ministry of science and techonology. He was a member of Indian National Academy Of Science, Astronautical Society Of India and many other professional bodies. Dr. APJ abdulkalam has been awarded Padma Bhusan in 1981, Padma Bhusan in 1981, Padma VIbushan in 1990 and Bharat Ratna in 1997.Kalam wrote few books namely, Reignited: Scientific Pathways to a Brighter Future jointly with SP Singh (2015);Beyond 2020: A Vision for tommorow’sindia jointly with YS Rajan (2014); A manifesto for change: A Sequel to India 2020jointly with V Ponraj(2014);Wings Of fire : An autobiography.

APJ Abdul Kalam was a prominent indian scientist who served as the 11th president of india from 2002-2007. He was known as the missile man of india. His significant contribution to Indian’s Pokhran-II Nuclear test in 1998. He was a good scientist and always curious to learn more about how things happens.When he was young,he sells newspaper because her family was not financially well-off.
He visited NASA’S Langley Research CenterHampton, Virginia; Goddar Space Flight Center in greenbelt,Maryland.

DEATH:
On 27 july2015, Kalam travelled to shilong to deliver a lecture on “creating a livable planet earth” at the indian institute of management shilong. At around 6:35 p.mIST ,only five minutes into his lecture,he collapsed.
