Exploration of microbes for Omega-3 fatty acid production
Abstract:
The purpose of the present paper was to review literature to ” Exploration of microbes for Omega-3 fatty acid production.” Earth evolved from 3.5 to 4 billions years ago. Earth at almost 5 miles per second. Microbes in the major component on this earth. Microbes is a living thing.Microbes are found everywhere in our world. The microbial world is the largest reservoir in biodiversity. Microbes usually lives in community. Over 99% of microbes constribute to the quality of human live. Microbes are essential for our lives. If we look we will find the microbes here and there. Omega -3-fatty acids (polyunsaturated fatty acids) are known as essential fatty acid. Eicosepentaenoic acid and docosahxaenoic acids are typical of Omega -3-fatty acids, sources are derived from cold water fish oils.Recently, most common algae or algae like microorganism used for the production of DHA. DHA is being helpful in the development of large brain.

INTRODUCTION:
Microorganisms have potential to produce commercially useful materials. Microbes is a single celled (unicellular) or in a colony of cells. Antonie Van Leeuwenhock was first to study microorganisms. Microorganisms are produce to docoshaexanoic (DHA) and eicosapentaepic (0EPA) w-3 fatty acids. Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek ( The father of microbiology) was first to study microorganisms. Omega -3 fatty acids are a large group of fats called alpha-linoleic acid.
Fig: Examples of omega-3 fatty acids include α-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
Not only, microalgae but also thraustochytrids to the production of omega-3 PUFAs. Human can get alpha linolenic acids from plants.
Exploration is the act of searching for the purpose of discovery. The application of Omega -3 fatty acids for human health are rapidly expending. Omega-3 fatty acids play an important role in maintaining the earth ecosystem. Microbes consist of bacteria, Archaea, protozoa, algae, fungi, viruses and multicellular animal parasite, (helminths).
Currently, the principal source of EPA and DHA is marine fatty fish such as Salmon mullet etc.
CONCLUSION:
Research has been performed to maximize microalgal production of Omega-3 fatty acid. This Omega-3-biotechnological process is green and sustainable process for the omega 3 fatty acid production.
